To calm myself after my last post I decided to write a long overdue article about an artist I discovered a long, long time ago, even before I got into any kind of electro at all.
Back then I was obsessed with Tarkovsky (even more so than now), and somehow ran into Stammer, a guy who makes absolutely enchanting fusion of jazz and IDM, the very industrial and moody kind. Imagine an old, rusty, forgotten industrial town, a town that’s slowly being taken over by nature – that’s what Stammer’s music sounds like. He is the only artist I ever wrote a mail to just to say thank you, and I’m still waiting for more of his music to be released.
I’m only linking to one of his tracks below, but all of his music is free on his own website, which also has some beautiful photography. Check it out.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
You might also want to take a look at an art project, which was very popular quite a few years back called “99 rooms”. It’s a kind of a quest where you navigate through a deserted building, solving puzzles and discovering paintings, a beautiful thing really. It’s not related to Stammer, but matches the mood of his music.
